Monday, April 7, 2008 Auctioned For $2.6 Million

A US man have got $2.6 million for the domain name, which was auctioned last week, reports BBC.

Chris Clark, 43, who lives in North Potomac, Maryland accepted the offer from an anonymous bidder after a week-long online auction.

Mr Clark registered the domain name in 1994, when the internet was in the infant stage and maintained the site for just $20 a year since 1994.

The online auction was launched on 27 March. The first bid was $100, jumping to $2.6m a week later.

He said he now regretted not buying more domain names in the 1990s.

Well, that's not just you Mr. Clark. There are millions out there who thinks they missed a lifetime opportunity in not buying those unique domains names, including myself. :)
