MySpace launches MySpace Music Service

MySpace, the largest online social networking site, has launched a music joint venture with three major music companies.

Called MySpace Music, the service is going to be in partnership with Universal Music Group, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group.

With this new service, the social-networking gaint hopes to capitalize on the estimated 5 million bands and 30 million unique monthly visitors who are already hooked up with MySpace music pages.

MySpace is already one of the biggest promoters of music on the Web, with more than 68.6 million unique visitors in January, according to comScore.

MySpace Music will rival Apple Inc's highly successful iTunes online music store.

MySpace's Chief Operating Officer Amit Kapur said new features will include advertisment supported audio and video streaming, MP3 downloads, concert tickets, ringtones and merchandise.

MySpace Music service is now available online and you can check it here.
