Microsoft Not to Raise Yahoo Bid Offer

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft is not planning to raise its multi-billion dollar offer for Yahoo.

Citing sources close to the company, the Journal is reporting that with a falling stock market and amid the rumors of recession, the software giant believes that their original $44.6 billion offer looks even better compared to early Feburary.

I would say these posturings are standard in deal negotiations.

This is just another clever play by the Redmond giant, because with Time Warner and News Corp. out of the game, Microsoft knows that they have a strong case for Yahoo.

There were earlier reports that Microsoft was interested in increasing its offer, if Yahoo! gave the software giant improved access to its financials.
