Google buying Expedia?

If a rumor circulating on Wall Street is to be believed, Google is planning to buy the world's largest online travel agency - Expedia.com

The shares of Expedia Inc were up more than 9 percent in afternoon trade on Tuesday amid this speculation and is now trading at $25.13.

Expedia is a complete travel portal that helps you book airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages, various attractions and other holiday services.

Expedia.com was awarded Webby Award for the "Best In Travel Websites" in 2006.

Still wondering how Expedia is going to fit into Google's scheme of things, well my guess is as good as yours. We will wait for more news to come in this latest acquisition trail.
